Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly hails from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted love for family law, Ashley's present legal practice is focused on a variety of aspects of family law. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues marital property division fights over child custody and child support arrangements. She also deals with post-divorce enforcement and post-divorce issues including step-parent adoptions as well as private adoptions for parties as and concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since 2019 and assists parties in helping them resolve their disputes without the need for litigation and court involvement. In addition to mediations arranged by the court, Ashley also mediates in private cases for those who wish to avoid the litigation and court process.
After finishing her undergraduate education at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received dual Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor for the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This proved her dedication to scholarship and legal research.
Ashley began her clerkship path after completing her law degree. She was employed by renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She had the honor of serving as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014 she returned to her home town of Hagerstown to serve as a clerk for the Honorable M. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her primary focus in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases that involved child welfare. Ashley's tireless efforts were instrumental in helping children who were victims of neglect or abuse at the of their caregivers or parents. Her commitment to tackling social injustice went beyond her legal profession when she was a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to raise awareness regarding human trafficking within the tri-state region.
In 2017 she was a founding member at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and began her practice in family law - divorce, custody guardianships, child maintenance and divorce – as well as financial and estate planning, wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy – and mediation.
Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. She has a an intention to provide a personalized approach to every client's requirements.
